Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas is nestled in the Ozark Mountains of North Central Arkansas on the Strawberry River. It is located approximately 2 1/2 hours Northwest of Memphis, Tennessee and 2 1/2 hours Northeast of Little Rock, Arkansas.
Horseshoe Bend offers a special peace and quiet and yet this serenity has a magic about it that also creates an atmosphere of excitement and youthful energy.

Izard County was formed on October 17, 1825, as the 13th county of the Territory of Arkansas from parts of Independence County. It was named for George Izard, the second Governor of the territory. Melbourne is the county seat. The landscape of the county is rugged and mountainous. The Ozark hill country is good for raising cattle, and timber, and silica sand is found in the rivers. Small manufacturing has boosted the economy. The White River forms the southwestern border and provides recreation and fishing. A world-famous trout fishing river, the White, brings cold water from the depths of Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes, gradually warming near Batesville. The Strawberry River is a good stream for floaters and on this river is located Horseshoe Bend, a resort retirement community. The rugged hill country offers hunting and natural Ozark beauty. Calico Rock, a quaint old town, sits on the bluffs above the White River and offers its small-town charm. As of the 2000 census, Izard County had a population of 13,249 residents.
Izard County was once a part of the great Cherokee Indian Nation, and history shows that DeSoto visited this section in 1541. The county was once a part of the Loisiana Territory and was named after Arkansas Governor Izard. The area has a wealth of history and a bright future. Tourism is the largest industry in this part of the state and the perfect place for vacations and retirement.

The Hillhigh Hotel & Spa offers a co-ed, fully equipped work out center, Jacuzzi, baths, sauna, hot tub, and tanning booths. The Hillhigh Hotel also offers the largest indoor pool in northeast Arkansas.

OB Sports Golf Management LLC manages this facility, with Allen Jones as the General Manager.
The 18-hole "Cedar Glade" course at the Cedar Glade Golf Club facility in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas features 1,751 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 54. Cedar Glade golf course opened in 1992. Ann Jones manages the course as the General Manager.
Lake of the Ozark has 2 Championship Golf Courses in the Four Seasons Community - Witch's Cove, a Robert Trent Jones, Sr. signature course & Seasons Ridge. It also is proud to have an 18 hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course.
This past September marks the LPGA Legends Tour has ever visited Arkansas, and they choose the emerging and vibrant Ozark resort community of Horseshoe Bend. It was a one day, charity, pro-am event and it attracted alot of attention. A full weekend of activities designed for families and fun, including a one-day course showcasing the swings of various Legends Tour professionals, preluded the pro-am. This Legends Tour stop in Horseshoe Bend benefitted the Children's Hospital of Little Rock.

Horseshoe Lanes has 12 Brunswick A-2 Lanes. They have a game room with 4 pool tables and 6 - 8 arcade games which are placed and maintained by a vendor service. They also have a video rental business that is maintained by a vendor service. They sell candy, hot dogs, sodas, chips and other snack items. Currently 5 leagues per week are active and they are the only indoor recreation in Horseshoe Bend. They get many tourists from local timeshare on the lake along with regular bowlers. They also have a Pro Shop and sell and drill balls along with other bowling items.
